Archery GB - Coaching Archers with a disability
Coaching Archers with a Physical Disability (In-person)
To prepare you for this in-person workshop, you must complete the FREE Micro-Course Coaching Archers with a Disability (Part 1) on Learning Curve, in the Training Library.
This two day, in-person workshop is designed to equip coaches and instructors with the confidence and skills to support archers of all abilities in an inclusive and accessible environment.
This is not a replacement for the Archery GB Instructor award
Throughout the course, participants will explore and experience:
- Understanding diverse needs and how different impairments can affect shooting.
- Developing coaching techniques for archers with challenges related to balance, stance, or strength.
- Supporting archers with limited mobility or grip strength in drawing the bowstring.
- Inclusive coaching strategies for archers with visual impairments.
- Creating a welcoming and accessible archery experience for everyone.
- Using and adapting equipment and assistive devices.
- Safety and risk management considerations for inclusive coaching.
- Effective recruitment and development pathways to support disabled archers in the sport.
This course promotes an inclusive approach to coaching, ensuring that archery is accessible and enjoyable for all. Thank you to the Fletchers Trust for their ongoing help and support in our disability work.
Support for participants with additional needs: Archery is an inclusive sport, and we welcome individuals of all abilities to train as coaches.
