Course length: 1 day
Ideal for: Young people looking to take the first step on the pathway to becoming an instructor, volunteers and parents who want to get more involved with the delivery of climbing sessions.
Minimum of 4 persons need to be booked onto the course for it to run. In the case that there are too few candidates to run we will contact you with an alternative dates or to arrange a full refund.
Indoor Climbing Assistant courses delivered by Mountain Training England are regulated by Ofqual.

Course
The course involves one day (or potentially two evenings) of training and ongoing assessment in a supportive learning environment.
Your experience prior to attending the course will have a huge impact on the result and you should try to be as fully prepared as possible.
The course will be delivered by Ceri Allen, an approved provider, in our private climbing wall in Maidstone, Kent. Candidates will need to provide their own lunch. There is basic kitchen facilities accessible on the course for teas/coffees and heating lunch. Although the course is not a residential course we do have onsite facilities for overnight stay at an additional cost. Equipment
There is no need to have any of your own equipment, everything can be provided by the centre. However, if you have your own harness, shoes and gear you are welcome to bring it.
Syllabus
Technical competence (equipment, belaying, personal skills and background knowledge)
Management and decision making (managing participants under supervision, demonstrations and understanding your role)
Teaching and learning skills
The climbing environment (access, etiquette and ethics)
At the end of the course you will receive one of three results:
- Pass
- Defer
- Fail
